Capacitive Reactance Calculator

Top
Online capacitive reactance calculator is used to find out the resistance of a capacitor. The frequency and this resistance are inversely proportional. That is, at higher frequency lower the value of capacitive resistance and vice versa. The formula for capacitive resistance is,
$X_{c}$ = $\frac{1}{2\pi fC}$
Where,
$X_{c}$ = capacitive resistance,
f = frequency,
C = capacitance.

Steps

Step 1 : Put down the value of given parameters of the problem.

Step 2 : Substitute this values in the formula and find out the required parameter

$X_{c}$ = $\frac{1}{2\pi fC}$.

Problems

Let us discuss the problems related to Capacitive reactance.

Solved Examples

Question 1: Calculate the capacitive reactance of a circuit if the frequency and capacitance are 150Hz and 50mF respectively.

Solution:

Given parameters are,
f = 150Hz,
C = 50mF = 50$\times10^{-3}$F

Capacitive reactance of a circuit is,

$X_{c}$ = $\frac{1}{2\pi f_{c}}$

$X_{c}$ = $\frac{1}{2\times3.14\times150\times50\times10^{-3}}$ = 0.02123$\Omega$

Question 2: Calculate the capacitive reactance of a circuit if the frequency and capacitance are 25kHz and 0.35F respectively.

Solution:

Given parameters are,
f = 25kHz = 25$\times10^{3}$Hz,
C = 0.35F

Capacitive reactance of a circuit is,

$X_{c}$ = $\frac{1}{2\pi f_{c}}$

$X_{c}$ = $\frac{1}{2\times3.14\times25\times10^{3}\times0.35}$ = 1.819$\times10^{-5} \Omega$
