Buoyancy Calculator

Top
Buoyancy calculator helps to determine the buoyant force of a flowing liquid. Buoyant force is the gravitational body force which acts on a fluid of non-uniform density. The buoyant force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.This can be calculated using the given formula.

B = $\rho$ Vg

Where B is the buoyant force
$\rho$ is the density of fluid
V is the volume
g is the acceleration due to gravity

Steps

Step 1: From the question, note down the given measures

Step 2: Plug these values in the given equation

B = $\rho$ Vg

Step 3:
Find out the required quantity

Problems

Solved problems based on buoyancy are discussed below:

Solved Examples

Question 1: The density of a liquid is given as 900kg/m3 and the volume is also given as 2m3. Calculate its buoyant force?

Solution:

Given that,
$\rho$ = 900kg/m3 and V = 2m3 and g = 9.8m/s
Buoyancy force equation is
B = $\rho$ Vg
B = 900$\times$2$\times$9.8 = 17640 N

Question 2: If the density and buoyant force of a liquid is 1000kg/m3 and 11550 N respectively, calculate the volume of the liquid?

Solution:

Given that,
$\rho$ = 1000kg/m3 and V = ? and g = 9.8m/s, B = 11550 N
Buoyancy force equation is
B = $\rho$ Vg

V = $\frac{B}{\rho g}$

V = $\frac{11550}{1000\times9.8}$ = 1.178 m3
